More of My Story

Since establishing this page, I have connected with a family I never knew even existed. I have found four sisters and a brother. Their children are my nieces and nephews. My nieces and nephews children are of course my great-nieces and great-nephews.

I’ve added the name “Allison” to the list, as my father, Daniel Moss, was raised a “Moss” but his father was an “Allison”. It seems to be a consistent thing in my family, as even my adopted father “Sullivan” is the descendant of a man whose last name “was” “Nicholson” and of course my husband adopted my daughter, thereby changing her last name as well.

Nevertheless, my “new” family has accepted me. I have discovered family medical history that I had no clue of which includes one sister who is currently dealing with colon cancer. This prompted me to get a colonoscopy, which I would not have done before. Polyps were found, but none have tested positive for cancer. The small ones were removed during the colonoscopy, but one was larger and in a bad spot for the skill level of the doctor.

A second colonoscopy is scheduled for tomorrow (July 8, 2024) with a more experienced doctor. The hope is that he can remove it via the colonoscopy. If this is the case, I should be clear for a decade or more. If it requires more aggressive surgery, he is the one who would be doing it anyway.

Update: July 12th, 2024. The second colonoscopy was successful. The more experienced Dr removed the largest polyp and two additional smaller ones. Recovery is going well, and “normal” function is returning.
